About the plant:
Cycas revoluta , Czech Japanese cycad from the cycad genus is one of the oldest plants on the planet and also belongs to plants that live for several centuries. It is a slow-growing tropical plant that resembles palm trees in appearance, although it has nothing to do with palm trees. It originally comes from Japan, but today it can be seen in almost all tropical areas. The cycad is a dioecious plant, which means that it has both male and female flowers, but you usually don't see that for several decades. New leaves grow usually only once a year, rarely twice a year, yellow and limp old leaves can be cut off. New leaves are usually very soft and susceptible, hardening and darkening over time. Cycad contains a strong neurotoxin that is poisonous, as well as its seeds, which can cause death in smaller creatures if ingested, it is not a suitable plant for pets and small children.

Cycad revoluta has a large stocky and rough trunk that is above the ground from which grow longer dark green leaves. When transplanting, the neck must not remain above the ground. The recommended transplanting of this plant is approx. 1x every 2-3 years, depending on the size of the plant.

Light

Cycads require a very bright habitat. In the summer, it is possible to spend the summer protected from direct sunlight. Place near a window in winter, leaves start to turn yellow in a darker environment.

Watering

Always allow the cycad to dry out before watering again. It requires a permeable substrate that allows water to flow through but remains moist. E.g. substrate for cacti is suitable.

Humidity

Cycas prefers increased humidity, dew is possible. In the summer months, the ideal temperature is 22 - 30° C. In the winter months, we place it in a cool and sunny place at a temperature of 10 - 15° C. In a warm environment in winter and lack of light, the leaves can dry out and new ones may not be kept.

Propagation

Cycads are propagated by seeds if they produce them or by dividing the root. Propagation of this plant is more difficult.

Common problems

The cycad is sensitive to light, the lack of light is manifested by yellowing of the leaves and their drying. With a lack of light, the new leaves can stretch higher and are smaller. From the parasites, it can attract the attention of maggots, mealybugs, weevils or ladybugs.

We ship live plant orders Monday through Thursday. If we cannot prepare your shipment within these days, we will send it again the following week. We want to avoid plants being left in the depot for long periods of time, which is especially important during the winter months when cold conditions can harm them.

1. DPD

A DPD courier will contact you the day before delivery with the exact delivery date. If you would like to redirect the shipment to the collection point, you can make arrangements directly with the carrier. In the winter months, however, we strongly do not recommend redirecting to the delivery boxes, as low temperatures can damage the plants. In this case, we cannot be held responsible for the condition of the plants and complaints will not be accepted.

The price of delivery of plants and accessories throughout the Czech Republic is 149 CZK, to Slovakia 8 €.

2. Post office

You can have the selected goods delivered to the delivery point of Zásilkovna in the Czech Republic for CZK 89 or in Slovakia for €5. All you have to do is select the delivery option "Delivery" when ordering. After completing your order, you will be able to use the map to select a specific delivery location.

Keep in mind that the Post Office has restrictions on package dimensions and weight. If you don't see the Post Office option, you probably have bulky products in your cart and you need to choose another carrier. In the winter months, we strongly do not recommend choosing delivery to Z-Boxes due to the risk of the plants dying in the cold. In this case, we are not responsible for the condition of the plants and the claim will not be accepted.

3. Personal collection

You can pick up your order for free in person at the address Křižíkova 55/65, Prague 8. Once your order is ready, we will send you an e-mail with information about the possibility of picking it up. If you do not collect the order within 3 working days , or if you do not inform us of another collection date, it will be automatically cancelled .

4. Express delivery by courier around Prague

5. Z-boxes, Alzaboxes, PPL boxes and others.

In case of payment by cash on delivery, orders for collection boxes are automatically redirected to the nearest collection point.
